IHUWASH: Innovation Hub for Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Solutions
First of its kind to integrate technology and innovation for WASH solutions, IHUWASH project is funded by USAID and supported by National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA). It intends to serve as innovation hub to conserve WASH ecosystem in urban spaces. Through IHUWASH, technology enabled innovations with collaborative approach are piloted and scaled up in three cities of three states. IHUWASH is changing the WASH landscape in the three cities, by building capacity of urban local bodies as well as private entities, activating citizens through WASH Forum and encouraging WASH innovations.
Keeping service delivery models and sustainable business models as premise for theory of change IHUWASH has evolved as a catalyst to address WASH challenges in urban spaces. To mention few most suited innovations it includes toilets addressing space constraints, modular superstructure with a unique feature of mobility and easy installation, community and public complex toilets for especially abled population.
