Jagan Shah is the Director of National Institute of Urban Affairs,
the premier think tank associated with the Ministry of Housing Urban Affairs, Government of India. Prof. Shah is leading the IHUWASH
project in the capacity of Project Director. Shah has 20 years of professional work experience in various aspects of urban developmentin India.
He studied Architectural Design from School of Planning Architecture (SPA), New Delhi and Architectural History Theory from the University
of Cincinnati and Columbia University in New York. He has served as the Director of Sushant School of Architecture, Gurgaon
and has taught at the School of Planning Architecture (SPA) from 1998 till 2006. From 2007 to 2010, he was the Chief Executive of Urban
Space Consultants, providing consultancy in policy formulation, spatial planning, heritage conservation, transportation and
livelihoods development. Shah was deeply involved with revision of the Regional Plan 2021 for the National Capital Region, has devised
intervention strategies for the India Foundation for the Arts and the Sir Ratan TataTrust, and has executed large scale urban
design assignments such as 27 stations for the Regional Rapid Transit System for the NCR and the Master Plan for the Mizoram University
campus in Aizawl. Shah was a founding member of the Modern Asian Architecture Network. He has authored ‘Contemporary Indian
Architecture’ (Roli, 2008) and co-authored Building Beyond Borders (NBT, 1995) with Satish Grover. His next book, ‘5000 Years of
Indian Architecture: From River Valley to Metropolis’ will be published by Roli Books.

Paramita Datta Dey is a Senior Research Officer with NIUA under the USAID supported project, ‘Innovation Hub for Urban Water,Sanitation
Hygiene Solutions’. She has a Masters in Geography from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi and a post-graduate degree
from the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi with a specialization in Environmental Planning.
Paramita has over 20 years experience in the field urban poverty, water, sanitation and hygiene, environmental assessments,
natural resource management, urban governance and urban policy, having worked with Ministries of the Government of India, Centre for Science &
Environment and the Centre for Policy Research along with internationally funded projects of the UNDP, CIDA, World Bank, ADB, BMGF and USAID.
As a core member of the research team at NIUA, she has gained expertise in policy review and formulation, project monitoring and evaluation
and urban poverty reduction strategy. Several of her research based work have been published as Working Papers and/or Research Papers.
Paramita is presently working on evidence-based research and advocacy for urban policy and practice, with sanitation as the focus.

Uday has completed his Doctorate in Geology from MS University of Baroda. At NIUA, Uday is working as the Technical and Knowledge Coordinator in the USAID
supported project on ‘Innovation Hub for Urban Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Solutions’. With over 15 years of experience, he has been involved in
projects in three key thematic areas viz. urban water & sanitation, disaster risk reduction, climate change resilience and adaption. He has published
several research articles in peer reviewed international and national journals and also contributed to several reports, guidebooks and training
manuals. Uday has previously worked with the Centre for Science and Environment for capacity building and training programmes in sustainable
urban water management supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and international agencies, and as a researcher at the Institute of
Seismological Research and MS University.

Utsav Chaudhary is the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at NIUA under the USAID supported project, Innovation Hub for Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
Solutions’. He has done his Masters in Anthropology from Hansraj College, University of Delhi. With over 5 years of experience,
Utsav specializes in the area of Child-Friendly cities, Child Health and Nutrition, Participatory Rural Appraisal, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.

Corporate Communication from Xavier Institute of Communication, Mumbai. With over 6 years of work experience, Sreejita specializes in designing
campaigns, communication and outreach strategies with a focus on behavioural change communication and media advocacy. Prior to joining NIUA, Sreejita has
worked with Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s core communications team and a USAID supported program on sustainable forest management and climate change.
